The streets behind Kensington High Street hold more family houses than the borough overall: in Campden ward 21.8% of households live in a terraced house and 45.9% own their home. Complete After Builders cleans them after the works: a 4-bed house after a refurbishment usually takes 3 cleaners for 4 hours, £392 all in.

Kensington High Street in numbers

Kensington Square, the Phillimore estate and the Victorian terraces

Kensington Square was laid out from 1685 by Thomas Young, a wood-carver and joiner, as a square of large houses with front courts and back gardens; many of its houses are listed, and Nos. 11 and 12 were first listed in 1949. Behind the High Street, Charles Phillimore agreed in 1855 with the builder Joseph Gordon Davis to develop 21 acres, and the leases of 1856 to 1868 cover Phillimore Gardens, Stafford Terrace, Essex Villas and Argyll Road. In the local Census area 66.8% of the homes with a recorded build date were built before 1900, and the council adopted a new appraisal for the Kensington Palace conservation area on 17 July 2025.

Many of those houses are tall and deep, with a lower ground floor, a long stair and big sash windows at the front. A refurbishment sends dust up the stairwell to the top floor and down into the lower ground. The crew starts at the top, dusts cornices, picture rails, shutters and door tops before anything is wiped, cleans the inside of every emptied kitchen unit, and does the stairs twice. In a house this size every bathroom beyond the second adds about an hour and a half of cleaner time, so a 4-bed house with three bathrooms runs longer than one with two; kitchen and bathroom cleaning explains why.

New flats on the old Odeon site

The biggest new scheme near the High Street is on the former Odeon cinema site, where Holland Park Gate, with 106 flats, was completed in early 2026. New flats like these need a handover clean before the first residents arrive: protective film and labels off the windows, grout haze off the wall tiles, silicone smears off the baths where they will come off, and the dust from the last snagging visit off every surface. A new 2-bed flat of that kind is often 2 cleaners for 3 hours, £212 all in, and a refurbished older flat 2 cleaners for 4 hours, £272.

Sofas, mattresses and curtains that sat in the flat during the works can be cleaned on the same visit as an add-on; see upholstery cleaning.

Parking near the High Street: the Town Hall car park

The Royal Borough issues no visitor vouchers, so during controlled hours the crew's car needs a space you provide, a pay-by-phone bay or a car park. The simplest near the High Street is the public car park under Kensington Town Hall in Hornton Street, W8 7NX, open 24 hours a day. Outside controlled hours, resident bays, pay-by-phone bays and single yellow lines are free to anyone.

West along the High Street is Holland Park; north up Church Street is Notting Hill, and south-east past the museums is South Kensington. Hours, licences and waste rules for after builders cleaning in Kensington and Chelsea are on the borough page.

Kensington High Street builders clean questions

Anything else? Ring 07418 351088.

How much is an after builders clean for a house off Kensington High Street?

A 4-bed house after a standard refurbishment is usually £392 all in, a 5-bed 3 cleaners for 5 hours, £482. After a basement or a full strip-out the work is heavier; see our prices.

Do you clean the lower ground floor and the lightwell?

The lower ground floor, yes, like every other room. The lightwell is outside, so sweeping it is not part of the builders clean; jet washing a lightwell floor can be added at £4 a square metre.

Can the crew clean a listed house in Kensington Square?

Yes. Original panelling, cornices and floors are dusted dry first and cleaned with the gentlest product that works. Anything the crew is unsure about is left and pointed out on the walk-round.
