Brent decided 1,916 planning applications in the year to June 2026, from loft rooms on Metroland semis to towers at Wembley. Complete After Builders cleans up after the builders across the borough: a 3-bed semi after a refurbishment usually takes 2 cleaners for 5 hours, £332 all in.

Brent in numbers

Brent homes: Metroland semis, Victorian flats and new towers

Brent's heritage pages credit the Metropolitan Railway, and the British Empire Exhibition at Wembley Park, with the suburban 'Metroland' housing that fills the north of the borough. The south is older and denser. At the 2021 Census 56.7% of Brent households lived in flats (38.0% in purpose-built blocks), 22.3% in semis, 14.9% in terraces and 6.0% in detached houses; 38.4% owned, 36.0% rented privately and 23.5% rented socially.

Each part of the borough gives a different clean. A 1930s semi with a new loft room and a rear kitchen has dust on two floors and a long stair run between them. A Victorian house in Kilburn or Willesden, split into flats, has tall rooms, cornices and sash boxes, with plaster dust settled on every ledge. A new flat near Wembley Park is mostly labels, paint flecks that will come off and grout haze on the wall tiles; haze across a whole tiled floor is the hard floor deep clean, an extra at £6 a m². The crew works top to bottom in all three, dusts more than once and finishes with the floors; a dust clean after sanding and plastering explains the order.

Noisy building work hours in Brent, and the fines

Brent asks for noisy building and demolition work to stay within 8am to 6pm on weekdays and 8am to 1pm on Saturdays, with none on Sundays or bank holidays. Builders working outside those hours can be given a £100 fixed penalty notice or prosecuted, with an unlimited fine. The nuisance team does not take up complaints about construction noise inside the standard hours, and it normally wants three or four incidents logged within four weeks, through The Noise App or a diary, before it investigates.

The clean comes after the last noisy job. Book it once the sanding, cutting and drilling are finished and the trades have taken their tools; give us about a week, and remember that Fridays and weekends book up first.

Skip, scaffold and bay suspension charges in Brent

Brent's highway charges as listed in October 2026:

Licence or permitBrent charge
Skip on the road (skip companies only)£365.50 registration, then £72.80 per fortnight; 3 working days' notice
Scaffold or hoarding£305 per fortnight up to 10 metres, £390 for 10 to 15 metres, £770 over 15 metres; 14 days' notice
Building materials on the road£58.50 a week or £214 a month
Parking bay suspension£67 per bay per day with 14 days' notice; £133 surcharge for shorter notice
Yellow line dispensation£38 a day on a single yellow, £73 on a double, up to four hours

Anything left on the highway without a licence is charged at £70 a week. For the crew the order is plain: the skip and any portable toilet or cabin are gone, the scaffold is down or at least clear of the windows, and the rubble has left the house. Then we clean.

Builders' waste and the Abbey Road recycling centre

The council's £55 bulky waste collection will not take builders' waste, rubble, tiles, kitchen units, sinks, baths, doors or paint. Residents take DIY waste to Abbey Road Reuse and Recycling Centre (NW10 7TJ), run by the West London Waste Authority and closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Each household gets one free DIY visit a week, two 50 litre bags of rubble or one bulky item; more than that is charged from £16 for up to 100 kg by car or £32 for up to 200 kg in other vehicles, and waste from paid building work is always charged.

Businesses stay responsible for their waste until an authorised carrier takes it, need a waste transfer note for every load, keep it for two years and can be fined £300 for not showing one. None of that waste is ours to move: the crew cleans once the builder has cleared it.

Parking a cleaning crew in Brent

In a Brent controlled zone the resident buys visitor sessions through RingGo for the crew's van: £1.75 for two hours, £3.50 for four or £5.25 for the whole day, with nothing to display. Controlled hours run from 10am to 3pm on weekdays in several zones to 8.30am to 10pm every day in zone BV, so the sign on your street decides. On a street with only yellow lines, tell the office: a driveway or a visitor session in a nearby bay usually works. On Wembley event days stricter rules apply around the stadium. We ask for a free space or a visitor session; paid parking is passed on at cost.

Conservation areas, Article 4 directions and growth areas

Brent has 22 conservation areas, and every residential one is covered by an Article 4 direction. Changing front windows or doors, painting the front of a house, paving a front garden or replacing roof tiles can all need planning permission, and flats and subdivided houses have no permitted development rights at all. That keeps original sashes and front doors in streets such as those in Harlesden, and the crew cleans them by hand with soft cloths and no scrapers on old glass.

The London Plan puts two opportunity areas wholly or partly in Brent: Wembley, with capacity for 14,000 new homes (Brent now expects more than 15,000), and Old Oak and Park Royal, shared with Ealing and Hammersmith and Fulham, where the Old Oak and Park Royal Development Corporation is the planning authority. South Kilburn's regeneration is creating 2,400 homes, and the draft Local Plan proposes over 6,000 homes in Alperton, a Mayor's Housing Zone from 2015. For contractors handing over new blocks, see commercial after builders cleaning, and our prices has the totals for every home.

Brent builders cleans: common questions

Anything else? Ring 07418 351088.

How much is an after builders clean in Brent?

From £212 all in, for 2 cleaners for 3 hours. A 2-bed flat after a refurbishment is usually 2 cleaners for 4 hours, £272, and a 4-bed house 3 cleaners for 4 hours, £392; each is £30 per cleaner-hour plus £32 for equipment and detergents.

Can the cleaners take the rubble to Abbey Road?

No. The crew does not remove builders' waste, and Abbey Road charges for waste from paid building work anyway. The builder or a licensed waste carrier clears it before the clean.

Do I need a RingGo session for the cleaners' van?

In a controlled zone during controlled hours, yes. A full-day session is £5.25 and you buy it from your own RingGo visitor account.

What must be ready before the crew arrives?

The works finished and the trades gone, tools, materials and rubbish out, water, hot water and power on and the lights working. Empty the kitchen cupboards if you want them cleaned inside.

Will the crew get paint off the floor?

It tries, with the right product for the floor, and says on the day what will not come off. Photos beforehand help us bring the right products for your floor.
