In the 1890s Willesden was the fastest-growing district in Greater London, and small builders filled the streets south of the railway with terraces. Complete After Builders cleans those houses after a refurbishment: a 3-bed Willesden terrace usually takes 2 cleaners for 5 hours, £332 all in.

Willesden's 1890s terraces and the flats inside them
Brent's appraisal of the Willesden Green conservation area tells how it happened. Willesden Green station opened on the Metropolitan Railway in 1879; in 1877 Bramley's farm had been sold to the United Land Company, which laid out streets either side of the High Road and sold plots to small builders, who put up crowded terraced houses. The March 2025 Council Tax stock count shows 50.7% of homes in this part of Willesden with a recorded build date from before 1900 and 8.7% from 1900 to 1918.
Many of those terraces are now flats. In Roundwood ward 21.4% of households live in flats in converted or shared houses and 43.5% in purpose-built blocks; in neighbouring Willesden Green ward a third of households (33.0%) live in converted houses. Houses put up by many different small builders vary from door to door, so the crew walks the rooms first and plans the order. Steep stairs and small landings hold the most dust in a converted flat, and the stair carpet takes as long as a bedroom. A 1-bed converted flat after a refurbishment is usually 2 cleaners for 3 hours, £212 all in; getting plaster dust out of a home explains why the crew dusts twice.
Mapesbury and Willesden Green conservation areas
The Willesden Green conservation area covers the High Road's Victorian shopping parades, built largely between 1881 and 1906, along with Rutland Park Mansions on Walm Lane (1898) and the Metropolitan Railway villas of the Willesden Park Estate. Mapesbury, designated in December 1982, reaches into Willesden Green ward. Listed buildings nearby include the Grade II* Church of St Andrew and the Willesden Green station building, listed Grade II in 2006.
Every residential conservation area in Brent has an Article 4 direction, so front windows and doors, painting the front of a house, paving a front garden and replacing roof tiles can need planning permission. Original sashes and front doors tend to survive, and the crew treats them as old: paint spots off by hand where they will come, no scrapers on soft putty, a damp cloth on tiles. For inside glass and frames, see paint and labels off new windows.
When the builders finish: Brent's noise hours and licensing
Brent wants noisy building work to stop at 6pm on weekdays and 1pm on Saturdays, with none on Sundays or bank holidays, and it can fine builders who break that. A refit that runs late on a Saturday is still a refit in progress; book the clean for after the last noisy day, once tools and rubbish are out and the water, hot water and power are on.
Landlords should note that Willesden Green was one of the three wards in Brent's first selective licensing designation, in force from 1 August 2023 for five years, and the rest of Willesden falls in the second, from 1 April 2024. At the 2021 Census 41.3% of Roundwood ward households rented socially and 32.1% privately. A flat being made ready to let needs the kitchen cupboards, bathroom fittings and inside glass done properly, and carpets that sat under the dust can be cleaned on the same visit from £36 a bedroom.
Neasden growth area and hard water on new fittings
Newer homes are a growing part of the picture. About 14.6% of homes here date from 2000 to 2014 and another 6.1% from 2015 or later, and Brent's masterplan for the Neasden Stations Growth Area, adopted in April 2022, aims for at least 2,000 new homes over 20 years or more. New-build handovers mean film on the glazing, paint flecks on sockets and frames (lifted where they will come off) and dust in every kitchen drawer; a 2-bed after light snagging is often 2 cleaners for 3 hours, £212.
Willesden's water is hard. Thames Water's Willesden Central zone averaged 265 mg/l in 2025, so new taps and shower screens tested weeks before handover can carry limescale. The crew lifts what will come off and tells you on the day what will not. Kilburn is the next page east and Harlesden lies south-west; the borough rules are on the rest of Brent, and the full price list has every size, all £30 per cleaner-hour plus £32 for equipment and detergents.

How much is a builders clean for a Willesden terraced house?
A 3-bed terrace after a refurbishment usually takes 2 cleaners for 5 hours: £332 all in. After a full renovation with heavy plastering, allow 3 cleaners for 5 hours, £482.
Can you clean a flat in a converted house where the other flats are occupied?
Yes. The crew cleans the flat you book and keeps its kit out of the shared hall; tell us where the van can stop and whether there is a shared entrance.
Is my NW10 address in Brent?
Not always. NW10 also covers parts of Ealing and Hammersmith and Fulham, so check the council tax bill before the builder applies for a skip licence or you buy a visitor session.
Will the crew remove limescale from new taps?
It tries, with a descaler suited to the finish, and tells you on the day if any marking will not come off.
