A third of Enfield's 128,340 homes were built between 1919 and 1939, and Complete After Builders cleans them after lofts, extensions and new kitchens. A 3-bed house after a refurbishment usually takes 2 cleaners for 5 hours: £332 all in.

Enfield in numbers

Enfield's homes and what they mean for the clean

Valuation Office counts for March 2025 put 23.3% of Enfield's homes with a recorded build date before 1919 and 35.2% between 1919 and 1939, 28.3% in the 1930s alone; 11.3% date from 2000 or later. The 2021 Census found 38.7% of households in flats, 28.9% in terraces, 24.8% in semis and 7.5% in detached houses, with 52.4% owning and 29.3% renting privately.

The 1930s semis and terraces of Southgate (N14) are typical, and the common job is a rear extension or a loft. The dust from cutting and sanding is fine, rides up the stairwell and settles on top of every door. The Edwardian streets of Palmers Green are older, with lath ceilings, cornices and many houses split into flats. Either way the crew works top to bottom and dusts the high surfaces twice.

Worked totals: a 2-bed flat after a refurbishment usually takes 2 cleaners for 4 hours, £272; a 4-bed house 3 cleaners for 4 hours, £392, all in.

Construction noise rules in Enfield and when to book

Enfield controls building noise through the Control of Pollution Act 1974. Under section 60 the council can serve a notice on any building, alteration or repair job setting the hours it may run, the plant allowed and the noise level. A builder who wants agreed hours in advance can apply under section 61 for prior consent, which the council must decide within 28 days and can attach conditions to.

For the clean, the date that counts is the day the last dusty trade finishes. Book the crew for after the sanding, cutting and plastering are done, with tools and materials out and water and power on. About a week's notice is usually enough; Fridays and weekends go first.

Red routes, skips and parking for works in Enfield

A lot of Enfield's main roads belong to TfL: the North Circular, the Great Cambridge Road, Bowes Road, Bounds Green Road, Angel Road, Sterling Way and Telford Road among them. On those, TfL issues the highway licence: £243 for a skip for two weeks, £502 for a scaffold for four weeks (£242 for each further four) and £576 for a hoarding, from 1 April 2026. TfL expects waste from homes on a red route to be loaded straight into a vehicle and considers a skip only where that is impracticable. Stopping a works vehicle outside the normal rules takes a TfL dispensation, £48 a day on red lines or £38 in a red route bay, with six working days' notice.

On council streets the crew's vehicle needs a resident's visitor voucher in a controlled zone. Enfield sells them in books of ten: £10.50 for zones with a one to four hour restriction and £21 for half-day vouchers in all-day zones. They work only in resident or shared-use bays of the zone they were issued for. In the Electric Quarter zone in EN3, running 8am to 6.30pm every day since April 2026, vehicles may wait 20 minutes free in the bays while loading. We ask for a free space or a voucher, and paid parking is passed on at cost.

Builders' waste: Barrowell Green and the Edmonton EcoPark

The crew does not take away rubble or materials, and Enfield's tips are not a route for a builder's load. None of the North London Waste Authority's centres accepts trade waste. Barrowell Green in Winchmore Hill (N21 3AU) opens 8am to 4pm Tuesday to Sunday and closes on Mondays; every vehicle visit must be booked, vans also need a permit, and it takes rubble, hardcore and plasterboard. The Edmonton EcoPark centre (1 Lee Park Way, N18 3BJ) opens 8am to 8pm daily, but limits DIY rubble to two 50 litre bags, four times in four weeks. Asbestos is refused at Edmonton and must be booked into Hornsey Street in Islington.

For old furniture, Enfield collects up to six non-electrical bulky items free from the front edge of the property (out by 5.30am), or on a chosen day for £22; electrical items cost £54 to £66 for one to three.

Conservation areas, Article 4 and landlord licensing in Enfield

The national planning data platform holds 24 conservation areas for Enfield, including Enfield Town, Bush Hill Park, Grange Park, Winchmore Hill Green, Southgate Green, Southgate Circus, Forty Hill, Church Street Edmonton and the Lakes Estate. It also lists 33 Article 4 areas: 20 conservation areas under a 2003 direction, a separate 2017 direction for Enfield Town and a borough-wide one on houses in multiple occupation. Original sash windows, tiled paths and timber floors survive in many of those streets, and the crew treats them gently.

Landlords have two licensing schemes to meet. Additional HMO licensing for shared homes began borough-wide on 1 September 2025, and selective licensing for single-household lets started on 1 September 2026 in 17 wards. A landlord getting a flat ready to let can book the clean for the gap between the last trade and the new tenancy.

Meridian Water and new homes in the Lee Valley

Meridian Water in Edmonton is a council-led regeneration of 210 acres beside the Lee Valley Regional Park, planned for 10,000 homes over about 20 years. Meridian One A, its first finished neighbourhood, was completed in March 2026 with 301 homes, and Meridian Two, 274 affordable homes on Leeside Road, topped out in December 2025 and is due from early 2027. Two London Plan opportunity areas lie partly in the borough: the Lee Valley, shared with neighbouring boroughs, with room for 21,000 homes, and New Southgate, which crosses the borough boundary, with 2,500.

New-build handovers there mean labels off glazing, film off kitchen doors and grout haze in the bathrooms (kitchen and bathroom cleaning). Ground-floor shops and commercial units can book commercial after builders cleaning, and builders cleans in Edmonton has more on the estates around it. The full price list sets out every size.

Questions people ask

Anything else? Ring 07418 351088.

How much is an after builders clean in Enfield?

From £212 all in, for two cleaners for three hours. The price is £30 per cleaner-hour plus £32 for equipment and detergents; a 3-bed house after a refurbishment usually comes to £332 (2 cleaners for 5 hours).

Does the crew need a visitor voucher on my street?

Only inside a controlled parking zone, where a voucher from your book covers the crew's vehicle; a long job may need more than one. Outside a zone, a driveway or free kerb space is enough.

Can you clean a new flat at Meridian Water?

Yes. Meridian Water is a restricted parking zone with parking in signed bays from 9am to 9pm, so a resident's visitor voucher (£2.10 per half day) is the easiest way to park the crew.

Will the crew take the rubble to the EcoPark?

No. Rubble, offcuts and packaging must be cleared by the builder or a licensed waste carrier before the clean, because the crew needs clear floors to work on.

What has to be ready before the crew arrives?

Every trade finished, tools and materials out, and water, hot water, power and lights on. Empty the kitchen cupboards if you want them cleaned inside.
