Farnworth grew from 1,400 people in 1801 to 13,000 by 1870 on its cotton mills, and 41.7% of households round Farnworth North still live in a terraced house. Complete After Builders cleans a 3-bed Farnworth terrace after a refurbishment with 2 cleaners for 5 hours: £332 all in.

Farnworth in numbers

Greenside's stone terraces and Farnworth's mill streets

The Greenside conservation area, designated in 1974, is a small block of terraces on Green Street, Greenside and Gladstone Road beside Farnworth Park. Bolton Council's appraisal dates them to the first half of the 19th century: squared coursed stone (one row in brick) under graded slate roofs, probably built to house mill workers. The windows are large, perhaps because cloth was once woven at home, and every doorway has a semi-circular arch with a fanlight.

That history is still in the housing. In the Census area round Farnworth North, 41.7% of households live in a terraced house, and 30.4% of homes with a recorded build date went up before 1919. After a refurbishment of one of these houses, plaster dust lies thick on deep stone sills and in the fanlight, and the old boards upstairs let it through to the ceiling below. The crew works from the top floor down and vacuums the boards before any water goes near them. A dust clean after sanding and plastering explains the order.

Farnworth Green and the town-centre works

Bolton's Farnworth Town Centre Masterplan, drawn up in 2019, put family homes and space for small businesses on the site of the old precinct building, between the two renovated King Street buildings. In July 2025 the council described that scheme, Farnworth Green, as recently completed. A £13.3m Future High Streets Fund grant went on it, on the leisure centre and on Market Street, and the town is due a further £20m over ten years from the Plan for Neighbourhoods.

New homes need a lighter clean: fine dust in every cupboard and drawer, protective film on the frames, stickers on the glazing and smears on new tiles. A new 3-bed house at handover usually takes 2 cleaners for 4 hours, £272 all in. Labels and paint specks come off the inside of new glass where they will lift; outside window cleaning is an extra, done only where the glass can be reached safely.

Skips and rubble on a Farnworth terraced street

On a terraced street with no drive the skip goes on the road, and in Bolton the skip firm takes out the licence. On a side street a seven-day licence is £12.90 from a firm on the council's skip register or £18.50 from one that is not, and the firm renews it if the job runs on. Ask the builder whether that is in their price.

Old kitchen units, a bathroom suite and stripped plaster cannot go out with the council's bulky collection, which refuses builder waste and fitted units. The builder clears all of it before the clean, along with tools and dust sheets. Keep the water, hot water, power and lights on for the crew; they do not shift rubble or work round a trade still finishing.

What a builders clean costs in Farnworth

A 3-bed terrace after a refurbishment, for example a new kitchen and bathroom and a replastered back bedroom, usually takes 2 cleaners for 5 hours: £332 all in. If the house was gutted and replastered throughout, allow 3 cleaners for 5 hours, £482. Each bathroom beyond the first adds roughly an hour and a half. The sums are £30 per cleaner-hour plus £32 for equipment and detergents, and our prices has the table and add-ons such as carpets that sat under the dust.

Skip, scaffold and parking fees for the rest of Bolton are on the borough page. Radcliffe is in Bury and Worsley (M28) is in Salford; those councils set their own skip and waste rules.

CleanersHours£30£32 kit

Every crew brings its own vacuums, cloths, ladders and detergents; the £32 covers them once per job. The table shows our usual starting point for a standard refurbishment. Lighter or heavier work moves it, and you can set your own crew and hours in the form.

Farnworth builders clean questions

Anything else? Ring 07418 351088.

Can you clean a stone terrace in the Greenside conservation area?

Yes. The crew uses mild products on old stone sills, arches and glass and tells you on the day if a mark will not come off without harming the surface.

Can I book the clean before the decorator has finished?

Book it for after the decorator leaves. The crew does not clean while trades are working, because new dust lands on the rooms already done.

How much notice do you need for a builders clean in Farnworth?

About a week's notice is usually enough. Fridays and weekends go first, so send the finish date as soon as the builder gives it.
