New towers and snagging cleans on the island
The island is still being built. The GLA's 2025 pen portrait of the Isle of Dogs and South Poplar opportunity area counts 18,246 homes in the pipeline, against a London Plan capacity of 29,000, and the Westferry Printworks scheme won permission in February 2025 for 1,358 homes. In Blackwall and Cubitt Town ward the 2021 Census found 93.3% of households in flats and 51.8% renting privately. In the Council Tax stock round E14 9RD, 29.5% of the homes with a recorded build date went up in 2015 or later, 27.4% from 2000 to 2014 and 21.5% in the Docklands years of 1973 to 1999.
New flats rarely arrive finished. A snagging list sends the decorator or the kitchen fitter back, and every return visit leaves fresh dust. Book the builders clean for after the last snagging visit, with tools and offcuts out, so the crew only has to do the flat once. In the towers, book the goods lift and a loading bay through the concierge and pass the times to the office.
Chapel House and Coldharbour: the island's older houses
Two small conservation areas protect some of the island's older homes. Chapel House, designated in January 1987, centres on a neo-Georgian estate of 120 houses and flats built by Griggs and Son in 1920 and 1921 to designs by Sir Frank Baines, each with a garden of its own. Around it are flat-fronted terraces of 1902 to 1904 and Charteris Terrace on East Ferry Road, a bay-fronted row of 1907 where some houses keep their original front doors and sash windows.
The estate houses were built without back extensions. Adding one, or knocking the kitchen through, is a big change in a small house, and the dust reaches the bedrooms up the single staircase. A 3-bed house after that kind of job usually takes 2 cleaners for 5 hours: £332 all in.
On the east side, Coldharbour (designated in December 1975) keeps the riverside houses of the old docks, among them Nelson House of about 1820, and Glen Terrace, a row of 1880s houses on Manchester Road added to the area in October 2008. Old sashes and worn floorboards there get a soft brush and a damp cloth.
Rubble, carpets and the Yabsley Street centre
Tower Hamlets' reuse and recycling centre is on Yabsley Street, just north of the island, and it will not help with most building waste. It takes residents only and refuses plasterboard and anything brought by a trade; DIY waste is limited to a car boot a month. The council's bulky collection takes a loose carpet or rug rolled and tied, but not carpet a builder or fitter has taken up, which counts as their waste. Everything else goes with the builder before our crew starts, because the crew does not remove rubble or materials.
If the old carpet stays, carpets that sat under the dust can be cleaned on the same visit, from £36 a bedroom, and grout residue on new floors needs the hard floor deep clean, an extra at £6 a m². The crews also work in Canary Wharf (E14) to the north and in Greenwich, across the river from Island Gardens. The full price list shows every size of job, and Tower Hamlets has the council's skip and parking rules.

Anything else? Ring 07418 351088.
Should I book the clean before or after the snagging visit?
After. Any trade who comes back to touch up paint or adjust a kitchen door makes dust, and the crew does not clean while trades are still working.
How much is a builders clean for a 2-bed flat on the Isle of Dogs?
£272 all in for 2 cleaners for 4 hours after a typical refurbishment, or £212 after decorating only. That is £30 per cleaner-hour plus £32 for equipment and detergents.
Will the crew take my old carpet away?
No, the crew does not remove materials. Tower Hamlets' bulky collection takes a rolled and tied carpet you lifted yourself, but not one taken up by a builder or fitter; that leaves with them.
Do you clean the inside of kitchen cupboards in a new flat?
Yes, inside and out, once they are empty. Sanding dust collects in drawer runners and hinge recesses, so the crew vacuums those before wiping.
