Ruislip in numbers

Ruislip Village and the Park House Estate

Ruislip Village became a conservation area on 10 November 1969. In January 2009 it was extended to take in the whole High Street and the 1920s and 1930s suburbs to the west, built on the Park House Estate, where the houses vary from plot to plot along tree-lined roads. Manor Way is a separate conservation area from 1989. The Grade I church of St Martin of Tours and the Grade II* Great Barn at Manor Farm are the old core, and Ruislip Lido, a reservoir created in 1811, lies to the north.

55.3% of homes in this part of HA4 were built from 1919 to 1939, according to council tax records. Houses of that age in a conservation area often keep their original joinery: oak or pine doors, stained glass in the porch, picture rails and parquet. After a refurbishment the crew vacuums the parquet before any damp cloth goes near it, wipes each pane of leaded or stained glass gently on the inside, and cleans picture rails and the tops of doors from a ladder. Construction dust cleaning has the order the crew follows.

Detached houses mean a bigger crew

Only 13.9% of households across Hillingdon live in detached houses; in Ruislip ward it is 36.7%, with 27.2% in semis and 71.7% owning their home. A detached 4-bed after a kitchen extension or a loft usually has more rooms, more glass and a longer staircase than a semi, so the office puts three cleaners on it and keeps the day to about four hours. The crew splits by floor, starts at the ceilings, and finishes on the hall floor once the stairs are done.

Skips on the High Street and hard water

If your flat or house is on or just off the High Street, the builder may struggle to get a skip outside. Hillingdon can refuse a skip permit on a high street, near a junction, within 50 metres of a school or on a road less than five metres wide, and only the skip company can apply. A wait-and-load lorry or bagged waste is the alternative, and either way the rubble has to be gone before the crew starts. The crew does not carry builders' waste.

Affinity Water's 2025 report for its Ruislip zone recorded 320 mg/l of hardness, which is very hard. A new shower screen marks up within days of the plumber testing it, and the crew lifts the fresh scale where the glass and fittings allow, telling you on the day about any that stays.

What a builders clean costs in Ruislip

A 3-bed semi after a refurbishment usually takes 2 cleaners for 5 hours: £332 all in. A 4-bed detached house is 3 cleaners for 4 hours, £392, and a 5-bed after a full renovation is heavy work for 4 cleaners for 6 hours at £752. A 2-bed flat on the High Street after a refurbishment is 2 cleaners for 4 hours, £272. The full price list has the add-ons, and outside window cleaning is priced by house size.

East along the Metropolitan line the crews work in Eastcote, and north past the Lido in Northwood (HA6). The rest of the council's rules are on after builders cleaning in Hillingdon.

Questions people ask

Anything else? Ring 07418 351088.

How long does a builders clean of a 1930s detached house take?

A 4-bed after a standard refurbishment usually takes 3 cleaners for 4 hours: £392 all in. A full renovation is heavier, at 4 cleaners for 5 hours.

Will the crew look after original parquet and stained glass?

Yes. Parquet is vacuumed first and cleaned with a product chosen for wood, and old glass is wiped by hand on the inside. Paint or plaster that will not lift safely is pointed out on the day.

What do we need to sort before the crew arrives?

Every trade finished and gone, with tools, materials and rubbish out of the house. Water, hot water and power on, the lights working, and a space on the drive or a visitor voucher for the van.
