In the neighbourhood round PR8 1PE, by Lord Street, 77.2% of households live in flats and 56.6% rent privately. Complete After Builders cleans Southport flats and houses after the works from £212 all in; a 1-bed flat after a refurbishment is usually £212.

Southport in numbers

Flats in converted Victorian houses near Lord Street

Census 2021 for Sefton 004, the neighbourhood round PR8 1PE, counts 5,187 households. 42.1% live in purpose-built flats, 26.7% in flats in converted or shared houses and 4.1% in flats in a commercial building, such as over a shop. Council Tax records put 69.2% of homes with a recorded build date there before 1900, and only 1.6% from 2015 on.

So a typical Southport job is a flat inside an old house: tall rooms, cornices, often sash windows, and a shared stair. The crew carries vacuums, ladders and detergents up to the flat, so arrange access to the street door and say which floor. Sanding dust sits along picture rails, on top of doors and in the gaps of old boards, and it lifts again every time someone crosses the room, so the floors are done early and again at the end.

A 1-bed flat after a refurbishment takes 2 cleaners for 3 hours: £212 all in. A 2-bed is usually 2 cleaners for 4 hours, £272, and a full refit with new plaster throughout pushes a 2-bed to 2 cleaners for 5 hours (£332). For heavy plaster dust see getting plaster dust out of a home.

Lord Street verandahs, Birkdale Park villas and the Promenade

Three conservation areas fall within 800 m of PR8 1PE: Lord Street, the Promenade and Birkdale Park, and 104 listed buildings stand within the same circle. Lord Street and the Promenade are both on the national Heritage at Risk Register. On Lord Street the council's leaflet describes narrow three-storey shops behind cast-iron verandahs on the seaward side, municipal buildings on the landward side, and houses and converted former houses at either end; flats above those shops are reached by a side or rear door, so tell the office which.

Birkdale Park was designated in July 2000 and extended in 2008. Its Italianate villas, several on Westcliffe Road and Lulworth Road listed Grade II, were the first suburb of Birkdale, and some have been turned into flats with the original building kept. A clean in one of those means old joinery and plasterwork next to new kitchens and bathrooms: the crew uses a product that suits each surface, and lifts paint and sealant where they will come off. New glazing gets its labels removed: see paint and labels off new windows.

Landlords, HMO licensing and parking in central Southport

With 56.6% of households in the neighbourhood renting privately, many jobs are landlords getting a flat ready to let. Parts of central Southport are inside Sefton's additional HMO licensing scheme, which runs until February 2028 for privately rented homes shared by three or more people from more than one family. Turning a family house into a small HMO now needs planning permission anywhere in Sefton: central Southport has needed it since September 2018 and the rest of the borough since 15 October 2025.

Parking needs planning before the day. In Southport town centre only homes registered as residences before October 2000, with pay and display outside, can get a single resident permit, and no visitor permits are issued there. A landlord cannot apply for one anyway. So the crew usually needs a pay and display bay or a car park, and parking that has to be paid for is passed on at cost; a private space behind the building is simplest.

The Foul Lane tip and the rest of Sefton

Southport's tip on Foul Lane takes rubble, plasterboard and soil from residents, and it is one of two Sefton sites that accept paint; asbestos goes there only by appointment. A builder's waste counts as trade waste and is refused, and the crew does not take rubble away either, so it has to be cleared before the clean.

Skip permits, scaffold fees and bay suspensions for the borough are on the rest of Sefton. Down the coast, Formby is mostly semis and detached houses, and Crosby has large Regency, Victorian and Edwardian houses. All sizes and add-ons are on our prices.

Southport builders clean questions

Anything else? Ring 07418 351088.

Can you clean a flat above a shop on Lord Street?

Yes. Tell the office how the crew gets in (side door, rear yard, key safe) and where the van can stop, because the kerb outside is usually pay and display.

Do you clean inside the kitchen units in a newly converted flat?

Yes, inside and out, once they are empty. Appliances are wiped on the outside; inside an oven is extra, and see cleaning a new kitchen or bathroom for the rest.

I manage several flats in one house. Can you do them all in a day?

Yes, if every flat is finished and empty of trades. Send photos of each flat and the office sets the crew size and hours for the whole house.
