Putney's conservation areas and what they mean for the clean
The list runs from Putney Embankment, where St Mary's Church was begun about 1450, through East Putney and Putney Heath to West Putney, a Georgian and Victorian town that turns into an Edwardian suburb built on former fields. Where can a cleaning crew park in Putney?
Putney High Street (zone A1) is controlled Monday to Saturday from 8.30am to 6.30pm at £4.30 an hour, with a stay of one or two hours, which is no use for a four-hour clean in a flat above the shops. Upper Richmond Road is nearly all red route.
The side streets are easier. Some Putney zones are controlled for one hour only: on part of Lower Richmond Road the bays are permit holders only from 9.30am to 10.30am on weekdays and free after that. Wandsworth gives residents who hold a parking permit ten free one-hour visitor permits a year for zones like these, so one permit covers the crew's van for the controlled hour. If you live in an all-day zone, a visitor permit or a free space is what the crew needs.
Rubbish, the riverside schemes and the SW15 boundary
