Feltham is still being built: 13.4% of homes around Hanworth Park date from 2015 or later, and the borough's tip at Space Waye is in Feltham too. Complete After Builders cleans new flats and extended 1930s semis here, with a 1-bed flat handover from £212 all in.

Feltham in numbers

New flats and town-centre schemes in Feltham

The council's appraisal says Feltham town centre was comprehensively redeveloped in the 2000s, and building has carried on since. Council Tax records show 640 homes in the Hanworth Park area built in 2015 or later, and the council's brownfield register lists sites for more nearby. The largest is the New Road Triangle, permissioned in January 2021 for 176 homes.

A new flat needs a builders clean at two points: the developer's handover before the keys go out, and the owner's own refit a few years later. A handover is lighter work. The crew vacuums sawdust from inside the units and wardrobes, peels film off doors and appliances, takes labels off the glazing and lifts sealant smears in the bathroom where they will come off. Grout haze across new floor tiles is a separate job, hard floor cleaning at £6 a m².

1930s semis, the Green and Hanworth Park

Older Feltham grew in two bursts. The railway arrived in 1848, and after the First World War the town spread around a railway marshalling yard and aircraft and tram factories; the appraisal calls it outer suburban, mostly built in the late 1930s and after 1945. In the Council Tax figures 40.0% of properties around Hanworth Park with a recorded build date are from 1919 to 1939 and 26.8% from 1945 to 1972, and at the 2021 Census 31.8% of households in the ward lived in semis.

Feltham Green and Town Centre conservation area, designated in November 1990, keeps what is left of the old village round the Green and Bridge House Pond, plus the Victorian streets east of the station. Hanworth Park conservation area takes in the park and Hanworth Park House. In the semis a common job is a rear extension or a loft: dust from the new room runs through the whole house, so the crew works from the top floor down and dusts the stair rails, door tops and skirting twice. Carpets that stayed down are vacuumed; a deeper carpet cleaning after building work is an add-on.

Who takes the rubble to Space Waye?

Space Waye in Feltham is Hounslow's reuse and recycling centre. A resident can bring two 50-litre sacks of their own DIY waste a week free, which covers a few bags of tile offcuts or plasterboard and not much more; over that the centre charges by weight. A builder tipping there pays the trade rate of £235 a tonne for home improvement waste and needs a waste carrier licence and transfer paperwork at the gate. Asbestos is not accepted.

The crew does not take waste away. Bags of rubble left in the hall or a pile of offcuts in the garden have to be cleared by the builder or a licensed carrier before the clean, because the crew cannot clean a room properly round them.

What a builders clean costs in Feltham

A 1-bed new-build flat at handover usually takes 2 cleaners for 3 hours: £212 all in. A 3-bed semi after an extension and redecoration is more often 2 cleaners for 5 hours at £332, and each extra bathroom adds roughly an hour and a half. The sum is £30 per cleaner-hour plus £32 for equipment and detergents; what a builders clean costs has the table.

Feltham's water is hard. Affinity Water, which supplies postcodes such as TW13 4ES, measures 277 mg/l, so a shower screen used by the trades during the works can already carry a limescale film. The crew tries with the right product but cannot promise limescale will lift. TW13 also takes in West Twickenham ward in Richmond upon Thames, so a few addresses follow Richmond's council rules. Crews here also work in Twickenham to the east and Cranford to the north, and the council's skip, scaffold and parking fees are on the page for Hounslow.

Every crew brings its own vacuums, cloths, ladders and detergents; the £32 covers them once per job. The table shows our usual starting point for a standard refurbishment. Lighter or heavier work moves it, and you can set your own crew and hours in the form.

Questions people ask

Anything else? Ring 07418 351088.

Can I take the leftover tiles and plasterboard to Space Waye myself?

If they come from your own DIY, yes: a Hounslow resident can leave two 50-litre sacks of DIY waste a week free, and more is charged by weight. Waste from a builder's work leaves with the builder, who pays Space Waye's trade rate.

Do you clean new-build flats in Feltham before the keys are handed over?

Yes. Most 1-bed handovers take 2 cleaners for 3 hours and cost £212 all in, with the dust, film, labels and smears dealt with room by room.

Will the limescale on the new shower screen come off?

Often, if it is recent. The crew uses a product suited to the glass and tells you on the day if any marks will not lift.

What has to be ready before the crew arrives?

The builders finished and gone, tools and rubbish out and water, hot water, power and lights working. A free space on the drive or a visitor permit helps too.
