How is a listed house in Isleworth cleaned after building work?
Isleworth Riverside, designated in November 1972 and extended in 1993, is the largest conservation area in Hounslow. It keeps the medieval pattern of South Street, North Street, Mill Plat and Church Street, with buildings from the fifteenth century onwards, and Church Street by the river still has its eighteenth and nineteenth-century houses, All Saints' Church, the London Apprentice pub and a slipway onto the Thames. Five of the 46 listed buildings nearby are Grade II*, including the London Apprentice, Gumley House and Gordon House. The council's appraisal lists flooding among the threats to the area, and both the River Crane and the Duke of Northumberland's River run through the district.
In a listed house the crew works by hand on the joinery, panelling and old glass, uses products chosen for each surface and leaves anything that looks fragile for you to decide on. It does not wash walls or scrub old plaster. Paint spots on original boards are tried gently and, if they will not lift safely, pointed out on the walk-round before the crew goes.
Spring Grove villas and the inter-war streets
Spring Grove was laid out from the 1850s as a Victorian villa estate of nearly 300 acres; close to 100 houses stood by 1877, and it became a conservation area in April 2002. Between the villas and the river are streets of inter-war houses: 24.2% of properties in the area with a recorded build date are from 1919 to 1939, and 29.2% of households in Isleworth ward live in terraced houses.
A villa renovated as one house or split into flats means high ceilings. The crew carries ladders up to about 2 m, which reaches the cornice and picture rail in most rooms; it starts there and works down, and it goes over the ledges a second time because the fine dust settles again. Ceiling roses and light fittings higher than that are pointed out, and the crew does what it can reach safely.
Purpose-built flats and new schemes in Isleworth
More than half of Isleworth ward's households (51.7%) live in flats, 26.8% rent from a council or housing association, and much of the stock is recent: 21.7% of properties date from 2000 to 2014 and 400 more from 2015 or later. The brownfield register adds 30 Rugby Road, permissioned in May 2021 for 146 homes. In a new or refitted flat the work is mostly fine dust inside cupboards and on door tops, film, labels and grout smears on new wall tiles; grout haze and silicone smears covers the bathroom side. Haze across a whole tiled floor is the hard floor deep clean, an extra at £6 a m², and paint flecks on new glazing come off where they will (window cleaning after the builders).
What a builders clean costs in Isleworth
A 2-bed flat after a refurbishment usually needs 2 cleaners for 4 hours: £272 all in. A 3-bed terrace after a refurbishment is more often 2 cleaners for 5 hours at £332, and a large riverside house after a full renovation can run to 4 cleaners for 6 hours, £752 all in. Extra bathrooms add roughly an hour and a half each. Every total is £30 per cleaner-hour plus £32 for equipment and detergents, set out on the full price list.
By the river, a skip has to be on a road permit that only a registered skip firm can request, for 14 days at most, and parking a van on a yellow line for the day needs a dispensation (£65 for the first day). The TW7 postcode also covers St Margarets and North Twickenham ward in Richmond upon Thames, so some addresses follow Richmond's rules. Crews here also work in Brentford to the north-east and in Twickenham across the Crane, and the council's waste and permit rules are on the page for after builders cleaning in Hounslow.

Anything else? Ring 07418 351088.
Do you clean listed houses on Church Street and South Street?
Yes. Old joinery, glass and floors are cleaned by hand with products suited to each surface, and anything that will not come off safely is left and shown to you on the walk-round.
Can a landlord book the clean before a new tenant moves in?
Yes. Tell the office how the crew gets the keys and when the tenancy starts; about a week's notice is usually enough, and Fridays go first.
Is my TW7 address in Hounslow or Richmond?
Most of Isleworth is in Hounslow, but TW7 also reaches into St Margarets in Richmond upon Thames. It makes no difference to the price; it decides which council's parking and skip rules your builder follows.
