Complete After Builders cleans Hounslow homes once the trades have packed up: a 2-bed flat after a refurbishment usually takes 2 cleaners for 4 hours, £272 all in. Nearly half the borough's households (45.8%) live in flats, so lifts, block managers and visitor parking come up on many jobs here.

Hounslow in numbers

When noisy building work must stop in Hounslow

Hounslow Council allows noisy building work from 8am to 6pm on weekdays and from 8am to 1pm on Saturdays, with none on Sundays or bank holidays. Larger sites can apply for Section 61 prior consent covering noise, dust and vibration. The council charges £120 for an hour of advice beforehand and £200, £400 or £600 for a small, medium or large programme, and it can set working hours as a condition.

For a builders clean the useful date is the day after the last sanding, cutting or drilling. Plaster dust settles again after the first pass, so the crew starts on the highest ledges, works down to the skirting and goes back over the same surfaces before it leaves. If the decorator returns on Saturday to finish the gloss, book the following week. About a week's notice is usually enough, though Fridays and weekends fill first.

Skip, scaffold and parking bay fees in Hounslow

Street permits here go through Hounslow Highways. A skip on the road needs a permit that only a registered skip firm can request: £122.21, valid for 14 days at most, and up to 72 hours to issue. A skip standing in a controlled parking bay also needs that bay suspended first. Scaffolding or hoarding on the highway costs £117.87 to apply for on the 2025/26 form, then £190.96 for the inspections before and after, £95.48 for each fortnightly inspection and £140.27 for every square metre of highway it occupies.

Ask for the skip to be collected before the clean day: a full skip by the door means rubble dust walked back into a freshly mopped hall.

Suspending a bay costs £25 per bay per day plus a £40 admin fee, with at least ten working days' notice; leave to park one vehicle on a yellow line is £65 for the first day and £25 for each day after. Where there is no loading ban the crew can unload on single or double yellow lines for up to 40 minutes, then the van needs a proper space. Residents in a controlled zone can buy visitor permits (30 one-hour sessions for £28.50, up to ten a year) on a paper form, so order them early. Many new-build homes cannot get permits at all because of a planning condition or legal agreement; if yours is one, ask the block manager about a visitor bay.

Who clears the builders' rubble in Hounslow?

Hounslow's bulky waste collection (from £41 for five items) refuses rubble and anything else produced by home improvements. The council points residents to the reuse and recycling centre at Space Waye in Feltham or back to the contractor, and the householder stays responsible for legal disposal. At Space Waye a resident can leave two 50-litre sacks of their own DIY waste free, one visit a week; rubble, tiles, plasterboard and old kitchens or bathroom suites all count, and anything over the allowance costs £205 a tonne with a £41 minimum for up to 200kg. Builders pay as trade customers: £13 to be weighed and £235 a tonne for home improvement waste, with a £47 minimum for mixed loads up to 200kg. They must bring their waste carrier licence and transfer paperwork, and asbestos is turned away.

So the builder clears the rubble, offcuts and empty tubs, and the crew takes on the dust and residue. It does not remove waste, wash walls or clean around trades still working.

Conservation areas, Article 4 directions and new homes

The council lists 29 conservation areas in Hounslow, where demolition always needs planning permission, and Article 4 directions add further controls in Bedford Park and Gunnersbury Park. Bedford Park is in Chiswick, and a refurbished house there usually means original sash boxes, cornices and old timber boards: the crew takes longer over the woodwork and uses milder products on the floors. Two borough-wide directions matter to landlords. One has required permission to turn a family house into a small HMO from 4 September 2023; the other, in force from 22 April 2025, stops shops and offices in town and neighbourhood centres becoming homes without permission.

New homes make up the rest of the work. The Great West Corridor opportunity area has an indicative London Plan capacity of 7,500 homes, and the GLA's 2025 profile counts 1,653 finished between 2019/20 and 2023/24 with 3,642 more in the pipeline, much of it around Brentford. In March 2026 the cabinet approved the next stage of rebuilding the Convent Way Estate in Heston, about 900 homes, and 182 council homes at Charlton House and Albany House in Brentford, where the council expected building to start in September 2026. A handover clean in a new flat is mostly fine dust in cupboards, protective film, labels on the glass, paint flecks where they will come off (see window cleaning after the builders) and grout smears on new wall tiles. Haze across a whole tiled floor is the hard floor deep clean, an extra at £6 a m².

Flats, semis and terraces: what a builders clean costs in Hounslow

At the 2021 Census 45.8% of Hounslow households lived in flats (37.4% of all households in purpose-built blocks), 28.6% in semi-detached houses, 20.5% in terraces and 4.9% in detached houses, and 30.9% rented privately. Around Hounslow Central the flat share rises to 65.6% and private renting to 56.5%, and in the town-centre area 22% of homes with a recorded build date went up in 2015 or later. The old Civic Centre site on Lampton Road is being rebuilt as about 940 homes, with later phases still under way. Further west, the council's appraisal of St Paul's in Hounslow West describes mostly two-storey inter-war and early post-war terraces and semis under particularly high aircraft noise.

A 3-bed semi after an extension and full redecoration usually takes 2 cleaners for 5 hours: £332 all in. A 1-bed flat being made ready to let is £212 for 2 cleaners for 3 hours. Each extra bathroom adds roughly an hour and a half of cleaner time. The sum behind every total is £30 per cleaner-hour plus £32 for equipment and detergents; the full price list sets it out by property size, and the page on getting plaster dust out of a home covers the dust itself.

Questions from Hounslow customers

Anything else? Ring 07418 351088.

Will the cleaners take away the rubble and offcuts?

No. The builder or a licensed waste carrier clears rubble, plasterboard and leftover materials first; the crew deals with the dust and residue left behind.

Can the crew start while the builders finish the last room?

No. Every trade has to be finished, with tools, materials and rubbish out, and water, hot water, power and lights working. Otherwise the dust settles again on rooms already done.

How do I sort parking for the crew in a Hounslow controlled zone?

A free space on the drive or a visitor permit is easiest. Hounslow sells visitor permits on a paper form, so apply well before the clean. If there is no free option, paid parking is passed on at cost.

How far ahead should I book a builders clean in Hounslow?

About a week's notice is usually enough. Fridays and weekends go first, so book those earlier, and give the office the date your builder expects to finish.

Do you need to see the property before pricing it?

Usually not. Photos or a short video by email are enough for most homes. For a big or unusual job a site visit costs £20.
